James S. Brown, III, MD, FACS
Dr. Jim Brown is a Board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in LASIK surgery, cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, glaucoma surgery, diabetic eye laser surgery, and retinal laser procedures. Dr. Brown's offers the comfort and results of the most up-to-date technologies - CUSTOM LASIK wavefront technology, blade-free INTRALASE, and "No Stitch / No Shot" clear cornea cataract surgery with multi-focal and astigmatism-correcting lenses. Dr. Brown is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery.
Dr. Brown started the in 2002. Since then the Starkville Daily News has regularly selected it as "The Best Eye Clinic in Starkville" and Dr. Brown as "The Best Eye Doctor in Starkville." The Center has recently completed work on a new, 7000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility.
In addition to his work at the Center, Dr. Brown serves as the Ophthalmology Consultant for the Mississippi State University Athletic Department. He has also participated in medical mission trips to India and Guatemala, assisted the Mississippi State Department of Health in its Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts, and spent a week during each of the last three summers as the camp doctor for Twin Lakes Summer Camp.
Dr. Brown is an ardent runner, cyclist, and triathlete. He and his wife Katherine also enjoy traveling and camping with their four children, and they remain widely involved in the Mississippi State and Golden Triangle community.
